An Obituary- A Testament of Life

An obituary is a formal notice regarding a person
s death. This little excerpt, commonly found in your local newspaper tells who the party was, their age, any remaining family members, and where the funeral services will be held.

The death notices are for the community. It can serve the purpose of honoring your loved one in a last testament to their life. This can preclude whatever is said at the funeral itself. It also allows the information to be given out to the public in case anyone would like to come to the funeral outside of the group to which you have sent specific notices. There are times when the obituary gives contact information to which you may send your regards.

Usually these death notices are kept to a small amount of words, however, if the person was a key figure in the community or accomplished something momentous, they will be given a larger layout. For example,

someone who has lived well in to their hundreds or a member on the city council who brought forth quite a lot of beneficial change to the community.

In regards to these obituaries, it is the familys responsibility to write one up and to contact the paper or papers, whatever the case may be, in which they would like it issued.

An obituary is often cut out and sent as a memento to family members who may not have been able to make it to the services. It can be considered a last remaining remnant of a life well lived and a way to begin the mourning process. The obituary is written before the funeral and therefore leaves the loss of that loved one fresh in one
s mind.

When read, it sounds as a formal piece about someone yet always leaves that hint of sorrow left within the words by those who remain.
