Obama rolls out national security team

(CNN) — President-elect Barack Obama on Monday announced Sen. Hillary Clinton as his pick for secretary of state, calling her an “American of tremendous stature who will have my complete confidence.”

“Hillary’s appointment is a sign to friend and foe of the seriousness of my commitment to renew American diplomacy and restore our alliances,” Obama said at a news conference in Chicago, Illinois. “I have no doubt that Hillary Clinton is the right person to lead our State Department and to work with me in tackling this ambitious foreign policy agenda.”

Obama also confirmed that he is keeping Defense Secretary Robert Gates in his current post.

Rounding out his Monday announcements, Obama named retired Marine Gen. Jim Jones as his national security adviser, Eric Holder as attorney general, Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano as homeland security secretary and Susan Rice as ambassador to the United Nations. …”

I really can’t understand why President-elect “Steve-O” made a couple of these picks. For one, Sir Hillary Diane is a world-famous hawkish neocon; former Wal-Mart Director; former Republican ACTIVIST; who couldn’t WAIT to cast her “Yea” vote to go to war and occupy Iraq and P-eBSO says he and his sidekick, VP-elect Joey Biden, can’t WAIT to exit from Iraq. Huh? Am I missing something here?

Well — the guy I voted for has made his first moves, and while I question some of his appointments thus far (I mean, Rahm Emanuel, too?), here’s hoping this will prove somehow to be “The A-Team” once it’s all been said and done. Skeptical? Yep. Hopeful? Yep.

Love Affair Grows Even Stronger With The Hawkish Sir Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton Officially Named As Obama-”O” Biden Secretary Of State…

In reference to our Joint Chiefs Of Staff Chairman, Admiral Michael Mullen’s “official gushing” after his first meeting with President-elect Barry “Steve” Obama, The Washington Post’s Karen DeYoung writes a piece entitled “Joint Chiefs Chairman ‘Very Positive’ After Meeting With Obama” in which she describes how not only Admiral Mullen, but nearly everybody else in the Pentagon is swooning over PEBSO’s election win now that he’s selected the “hawkish” former G.O.P. activist and Wal-Mart Director, Sir Hillary Rodham Clinton, to be his Secretary of State.

“… Mullen showed up with just a pad, a pen and a desire to take the measure of his incoming boss.

There was little talk of exiting Iraq or beefing up the U.S. force in Afghanistan; the one-on-one, 45-minute conversation ranged from the personal to the philosophical. Mullen came away with what he wanted: a view of the next president as a non-ideological pragmatist who was willing to both listen and lead. After the meeting, the chairman “felt very good, very positive,” according to Mullen spokesman Capt. John Kirby. …”

Another “snippet” regarding the general point of view through the eyes of the Pentagon of Barry “Steve” versus President “Surge” Dubya Bush:

… “The joke was that when you leave a meeting, everybody is supposed to drink the Kool-Aid,” Nash said. “In the Bush administration, you had to drink the Kool-Aid before you got to go to the meeting.”

Obama’s expected retention of Robert M. Gates as defense secretary and expected appointment of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of state and retired Marine Gen. James L. Jones as national security adviser have been greeted with relief at the Pentagon.

Clinton is respected at the Pentagon and is considered a defense moderate, at times bordering on hawkish. …”

“Hawkish”? I suppose you could call someone who votes unequivocally to go to war in Iraq based upon nothing less than “faulty” (at BEST) “intelligence” (at BEST), then tries to pretend for YEARS her written-in-stone vote for “shock and awe” never occured as “hawkish” — that is, if you want to be nice about it. OR, you could call her a bald-faced liar. Or BOTH. I choose the latter, but that’s just MOI (again, yep — I’m part French and WAY proud of it).

Let me just put it to you like this — when the Pentagon SWOONS over Barry “Steve-O”, be afraid. Be VERY afraid. It’s a great sign the military industrial complex -slash- OLIGARCHY of Bush-Cheney, Incorporated shall live on.

If so, and it IS so — your “advice” to President Bush (above) has exposed you for what you really ARE, Sir — a total hypocrite.

Andy Sullivan of The Daily Dish, on the other hand, sees things a bit differently and adds a completely different dimension to the argument (just a tiny “snip” of a huge “must read”):

Thank you for pointing that out, Mr. Tovar. In other words, there is a DIFFERENCE between protecting regular hires and seasonal hires at my FAVORITE RETAILER. The value of a human life means more to Wally-World World Headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas if that life belongs to a “regular” worker versus a “seasonal” or “temporary” worker apparently, unless I’m reading too much into that statement by Dave Tovar. But, I suppose that isn’t really the point, is it?

The larger point is — WAKE UP, AMERICA. Last but not least; could this fall under one of the many (way, too many) definitions of “domestic terrorism” and if so, who really IS the “terrorist” in this case?

Subway’s Jared S. Fogle And Other Afiliates Of The Fast Food Sandwich Franchise Tremble In Fear As FBI Confirms Al-Qaeda Has Plans To Attack In The Near Future

Jared S. Fogle, a.k.a., “Subway Jared”, “The Subway Guy”, or simply as “that annoying dude who claims to have lost 500 pounds by eating Subway sandwiches for a week” (or something to that effect) has thus far been “mum” on recent threats by al-Qaeda terr’ists to bomb selected Subways (Source: WCBSTV.Com) in and around the New York City area:

“The world’s economic fears were violently pushed aside on Wednesday by another global threat — terrorism.

A massive coordinated attack was launched in Mumbai, India just hours after the FBI warned that Al Qaeda may be targeting New York’s subways…”
